On the southern coast of Sri Lanka, we reached Hiriketiya Beach after a tiring and humid three-hour tuk-tuk trip from Unawatuna. At first sight, it was love. The sight of palm-fringed golden sands, surfers carving up delicious left-handers, and hip cafes serving up amazingly fresh brunch worthy of any Melbourne cafe made us realize that we had truly landed in paradise.
